Unpublished novel seeking approval!

Well here goes, my name as you may have gathered by the title is of course, Claire Hastie.
I have been meaning to start a blog for years now, but sadly I have never known what to write.  Might seem strange as I spend my time writing fiction novels.  But because they are fiction and not real life, I find it hard to talk about myself without making a story up.  It might have something to do with my life being a bit boring at the moment, as when I'm not studying freelance journalism I'm editing my 90,000 word novel.  Not that either are boring, as I am really enjoying the journalism course, while my novel was exciting to write but the editing part is painful beyond relief!

You see, writing has been my hobby since I was a child, and while other kids never stuck to their original plan, I have always remained true to myself by wanting to be an author whenever I grew up.

I write thriller fiction with a splash of 'the unknown' twisted into the plot lines.  My favourite genre is of course horror, and crime thrillers. You can always depend on a good author of these two genres to keep you hanging at the end of each chapter, leaving you gasping for breath as you desperately read on.

I'm hoping to share my recent novel on here, maybe publish a chapter at a time and see how it goes with the public.  The book isn't published as I haven't shown it to anyone yet, so this will be scary for me.  But brutal honesty is best coming from an audience.

The book is called Where the past lies, and is a crime fiction with a supernatural twist.  It's based in my hometown of East Kilbride, a large town in the outskirts of Glasgow in Scotland.
The story begins with a skeleton being found in rural woodland next to a high school. Forensics reveal that the body is that of 15-year old local boy, Jimmy MacIntyre who has been missing for 22-years. DC Banford begins the murder investigation, but its not an easy case for him.  It dredges up nightmares from his own troubled past whilst hidden truths about himself begin to scratch at the surface.
The last person to see Jimmy alive, was his then secret girlfriend, Jessica Harrison.  She has had to live with the guilty secret for all those years.
Jimmy's body being found should have been the final rest to his short life, and peace of mind for Jessica but instead it's only the beginning of something evil.

Please let me know what you think so far.

Claire, x
